Hester's Crossing Bridge |

Work on Phase II of the reconstruction of the Hesters Crossing Bridge in Round Rock will begin on Friday, February 8th.
Lane closures and detours of Hesters Crossing Boulevard, Mays Street, Dell Way, and the State Highway 45 North (SH 45N) east-to-north and west-to-north direct connectores will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8th The Hesters Crossing Bridge will also be closed during this period. Traffic on southbound and northbound I-35 will be detoured to the frontage roads at exit and entrance ramp #'s 251 and 250 just north and south of Hesters Crossing. With the closures in effect, the demolition of the east half of the old Hesters Crossing Bridge will begin.
Demolition and clean-up is expected to be complete by Sunday night. February 10th, and all lane closures are scheduled to be re-opened by Sunday night.
In addition to this work, full closures of the I-35 mainlanes will occur February 16th through 18th for demolition of the remaining west portion of the old Hesters Crossing Bridge.
Construction of a new bridge at Hestera Crossing is part of a broader plan to improve mobility in the Hesters Crossing area. TXDOT and the City of Round Rock are also constructing new auxiliary roadways in the area to allow southbound frontage road traffic to bypass the signal at the Hesters Crossing Intersection.
Additional detours and lane closures will occur periodically throughout 2008 to accommodate the construction of the new bridge and auxiliary roadways. Information about these additional closures will be available at www.centraltexasturnpike.org and through recorded announcement on the project information line, 225-1503. This project will construct a collector/distributor on the IH 35 southbound frontage road at Hester's Crossing, replace the IH 35 overpass at Hester's Crossing, align Business 35 (South Mays Street) with Dell Way and construct intersection and signal improvements at Hester's Crossing and the southbound frontage road, the northbound frontage road and Business 35/Dell Way. Boardwalk Shopping center, Joes Crab Shack can also be accessed from Dell Way.
